"Invisible Prisoners"

Human trafficking is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights. It involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to exploit people for labor, services, or commercial sex. Victims are often deceived or manipulated, and traffickers may take advantage of their vulnerabilities such as poverty, lack of education, unstable economy and political crisis.


How to Avoid Becoming a Victim:

  •  Traffickers operate – using false job offers, romantic relationships, or promises of a better life. Be cautious of too-good opportunities, especially the one's from foreign countries. 
  •  Avoid sharing personal information (ID numbers, address, travel plans) with untrusted sources or on unsecured platforms.                
  • Traffickers may use social media and online platforms to recruit,. Don't accept random friend requests or job offers from strangers without verification from your authority or trusted sources.
  • Incase you found yourself going abroad for work or study, go through verified agencies. Share your travel plans with family or trusted friends. Keep emergency contact information and important documents with you.
  • Keep in regular contact with friends and family. Let someone know where you are and who you’re with, especially in new or unfamiliar places.
  • Trust your instincts, If situation feels unsafe or someone’s behaves suspicious, try to leave and seek help immediately that's when you are working abroad don't force in situation you can't bear!.

Get to a Safe Place & Contact Help Immediately 

If you're in immediate danger, call 112 (Kenya's national emergency hotline) or the nearest police station.
